Subject: Appreciation
Dear Mr. Swisher,
I am writing a book entitled "Essentials of Toxic Chemical Risk: Science and Society" that is based on courses I developed and taught at Cornell in the 1990s. I recently asked Jim Lawrence if he might be able to provide contact information for about a dozen publishers, which I need in order to request permission to use copyrighted figures and graphs in my book. Jim was extremely helpful, sending me the contact information the same day I asked for it.
I wanted to let you, as Jim's supervisor, know how much I appreciate Jim's help. I feel that his expert and prompt assistance reflects extremely well on the Campus Store and on Cornell in general.
Sincerely, Steve Penningroth

Subject: Excellent Experience with Support from Jim Lawrence
Tom, we are pleased to report our excellent experience with support from Jim Lawrence in the creation of our new Johnson School Course, "Creative Design for Affordability," during the final half of the spring semester.
Jim helped us to transform what might have been a mechanical listing of guest lecturers plus a recommended reading for each, into a "somewhat magical" introduction to an approach to a course offering for MBAs with a subtext toward sustainability.
Jim Lawrence was a welcome and contributing partner to the project and its innovative process of creation. Jim helped us to move the Course Pack through a process of "a rapid prototyping," a process which we have learned is a key to rapid product enhancement.
The Course Pack became recognized as a "sought-after" memento of the maiden offering up this innovative course. Visitors to the course were not shy in asking, "(when) will I get my copy of this Course Pack?" to which we were pleased to reply, "Just pull the string on your 'Thank You' gift bag and you will see!"
It was a privilege and pleasure working with Jim Lawrence. Cornell is lucky to have him!
Cheers,
Alan McAdams

The Development Team for
"Creative Design for Affordability"
Jim Lawrence has been helping me with course packs for a couple of years, and I just asked him for the name of his supervisor so that I could pass along my appreciation for the speed and quality of the services he and his group have always provided me and my students. Turn-around time is instantaneous, demeanor is friendly and super-helpful, and the packets themselves are nicely done. My packets have some non-standard components, which makes this all the more impressive.
If only all parts of the University were so service-minded and effective!
Regards,
Irby

This is just a brief note to tell you how much
I appreciate the fine work that Jim Lawrence does in Custom
Publishing. He is cheerful, makes helpful suggestions, is
tolerant of over-busy professors who sometimes are late getting
work to him, and, overall, he is a pleasure to work with.
He is a credit to Cornell and to the Campus Store. Jim
has been extremely understanding, even when he could have
given me a loud and clear bureaucratic "No!" with complete
justification.
Sincerely,
Richard Baer Professor, Dept. of Natural Resources
I am writing to say what a terrific job Jim
Lawrence and his staff at Custom Publishing are doing. Preparing
my course packet this year was a real pleasure (BioES 278,for
400+ students). Jim not only was extremely accomodating of
my schedule, he was unfailingly pleasant, and very helpful.
I am recommending Custom Publishing to all of my colleagues,
and I certainly intend to use Jim's services each semester
that I teach.
With best regards,
Sara Via Associate Professor of Ecology and Systematics
I am a faculty member in the psychology department and have
now used the Cornell Custom Publishing service for three
years in a row. This note is to let you know what a spectacularly
good job Jim Lawrence does in the quality, the speed, and
the friendliness of the service. Even when I have been quite
late with my class packet order, Jim has always managed to
get the packets on the shelves before the first class--even
when he had to tell me that he would "try to get
them there by the end of the first week of classes." Moreover, he has never
made a mistake, despite the complexity of some of my packets ("This one should
be two-sided, that one one-sided, and a blank sheet of another color between
these 3 articles, etc."). And finally, he manages to be warm and friendly even
in the most frenzied week before classes begin. We should wish that the rest
of Cornell operated with the efficiency of Jim Lawrence's shop!

Jim, I just wanted to thank you again. You were amazing this morning!! By
the way, when I told the CAU staff what you had done, their comment was.....you
guys couldn't be nicer or more efficient..in other words, they weren't surprised
at the terrific service in your place. Now I know for myself what they were
talking about.
Ralph Janis Director of Cornell's Adult University
THANKS SO VERY MUCH for your help with getting my packet
together in such a timely manner, especially despite my coming
to you so late with my stuff!

appreciated the wonderful work you do putting my mess of
papers (Always handed in late!) together.

Jim, thank you for the prompt attention. Above and beyond
the call. My first discussion section was today, and a good
number of the students already had the packets.

I greatly appreciate ALL YOUR HELP to me - w/out you, I,
